Yen Press and Bluewater Announce Twilight and Stephenie Meyer Graphic Novels

As anticipation builds for the November 20 theatrical release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, major graphic novel projects have been announced that should thrill fans of the teen vampire romance series.

Entertainment Weekly’s site has reported Yen Press will publish a manga adaptation of the first novel of author Stephenie Meyer’s popular novel series.

Artist Young Kim will provide illustrations, while Meyer will personally review each page produced and will have a great amount of input on the project as a whole.

Some of Kim’s final artwork was published in July 17th’s Entertainment Weekly, helping to generate further enthusiasm from a fan base whose passion for all things Twilight has already become something of a phenomenon. More information on the graphic novel adaptation is available here.

To add to the excitement, Bluewater Press has announced plans to publish the first-ever illustrated biography of the world renowned author of TwilightFemale Force: Bestsellers Stephenie Meyer.

Bluewater Productions Publisher Darren G. Davis explains all the excitement that went in to the project.

"Years ago," he explains, "I was a huge Anne Rice fan reading all the Interview with the Vampire books.  So I balked at the whole "Twilight" phenomenon until a friend of mine forced me to read it. I am in the middle of the third book right now. I have been to Forks, and own the movie.  I think it is safe to say that I am hooked like everyone else in the world."

Davis later explained, "We chose Stephenie Meyer to be one of the subjects for "Female Force" because her voice is one for a new generation.  Now people will find out the history of how she created this series, as well as her life story."

After the publication of her first novel, Twilight, booksellers chose Stephenie Meyer as one of the "most promising new authors of 2005" (Publishers Weekly). Since then, the Twilight books have sold over 53 million copies and have been translated into 37 languages.

These new graphic novels should see significant crossover from fans of both Twilight and Manga, presenting the perfect opportunity to introduce readers to the wider worlds of graphic novels and prose.
