The National Cartoonists Society, the world’s largest and most prestigious organization of professional cartoonists, has announced its nominees for the 2008 Reuben Awards.

In the Comic Book Category, nominated authors include Drawn and Quarterly’s Ojingogo GN by Matt Forsythe (ISBN: 9781897299692), First Second’s Gus & His Gang GN by Christophe Blain (ISBN: 9781596431706) and Three Shadows GN by Cyril Pedrosa (ISBN: 9781596432390).

The Reuben Awards – named after the National Cartoonists Society's first president, Reuben "Rube" Goldberg – honors the mediums' finest cartoonists and their work, as voted on by special juries overseen by the organization's regional chapters and its membership. This year’s winners will be announced at the 63rd Annual Reuben Awards Dinner in Hollywood, California on May 23, 2009.
