Wolverine and Iron Man Cartoons Bring New Fans to Marvel Comics

Nicktoons is reaching a new generation of Marvel fans with their smash hit Wolverine and the X-Men and upcoming Iron Man: Armored Adventures animated series. As enthusiasm builds for this new iteration of the Marvel universe, you can seize the opportunity to turn TV-watchers into readers with related graphic novels.

The premiere episode of the Wolverine and the X-Men animated scored the highest ratings the Nicktoon network has ever seen, and scored #1 in the boys 9-14 demographic. The first two episodes each drew over half a million viewers.

Viewers hungry for more about Wolverine will find plenty to interest them in Wolverine: Worst Day Ever (ISBN: 978-0-7851-3757-3), a hardcover prose novel written by critically acclaimed YA author Barry Lyga (The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl) with illustrations by Todd Nauck. Wolverine: Worst Day Ever examines Wolverine from the perspective of an awkward new student at Xavier’s school, whose mutant power might make him the loneliest kid in the world. Can he learn how to deal with his power by watching the ultimate loner, Wolverine? Young readers will enjoy Wolverine’s adventures as experienced by superhero siblings Power Pack in X-Men and Power Pack: the Power of X Digest (ISBN: 978-0-7851-1955-5). With buzz growing for the upcoming feature film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, due for release in May 2009, older readers may also be interested in Wolverine Origin TPB (ISBN: 978-0-7851-3727-6) and Wolverine: Weapon X TPB (ISBN: 978-0-7851-3724-5).

Following in the success of Wolverine and the X-Men, Nicktoons’ all-new animated series, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, will debut on April 24th. Produced by Marvel Studios and French animation studio Method Animation, Iron Man: Armored Adventures is geared toward a younger audience, with a teenaged protagonist. The series features voice actors Adrian Petriw as Tony Stark, Daniel Bacon as James Rhodes, Anna Cummer as Pepper Potts and Mackenzie Gray as Obadiah Stane. Done in a modern CGI style similar to MTV's Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, Iron Man: Armored Adventures is story edited by Christopher Yost. Marvel has made the series' trailer available on their website.

For graphic novel tie-ins to the new series, some of the high-tech hero's earliest adventures are collected in Essential Iron Man Volume 1 TP (ISBN: 978-0-7851-3464-0), while the Marvel Adventures series, including Marvel Adventures Iron Man: Armored Avenger (ISBN: 978-0-7851-3421-3) is ideal for younger readers.
